Seven years ago today, President Ronald Reagan passed from this life into eternity. I was blessed to be a child during his presidency, and as a young man to have reaped the benefits of the economic dynamo he unleashed. Today, as a grown man and father, I hope to step up in my own way...in my time...and carry on the fight for personal liberty, for freedom, for courage against evil and violence that President Reagan typified. True, he was not perfect...none of us are. But he stood tall at a time when so many others shrank away. He spoke unpalatable truths boldly, when others preferred the obfuscations and ambiguities of academic-speak. He believed in the average American, when so many others sought to tell that American he shouldn't believe in himself, but rather should rely on Government to produce the best life he could have by meekly accepting whatever rights (if any) it would grant him. Thank you, Mr. President. Your legacy continues.
