Good King Pat the Giant-Slayer

And this, kids, is why we choose our words carefully:

California’s Democratic governor, Pat Brown…told the world that actor Ronald Reagan and the former mayor of San Francisco, George Christopher…both lack the “national stature” of former Sen. William F. Knowland and former Vice-President Richard Nixon.

Since the latter two were successively polished off by Brown in 1958 and 1962, he is saying that he is just the man to handle pygmies after dispatching a couple of real champs.

Governor Brown’s breakfast on November 9, 1966:  roast crow with a side of humble pie.
